An ROV-course with Abyss may be the beginning of a new career as ROV pilot.

ROV stands for Remotely Operated Underwater Vehicle. ROV`s are highly specialized vehicles which demands operators with high technical competence and accuracy. If you are technically inclined and thrive on challenges, this could be something for you.

In this trade you can be challenged on everything from HD-camera systems and fiber optic to sophisticated sonar systems and hydraulics.

ROV´s are used both inshore and offshore throughout the world, and this is a strong growing industry.

The course extends over three intensive weeks.

The course is based on IMCA standards for the education and training of ROV Pilots. The first week is mainly theory but after week 1 its turns more practical. During the practical part our course participants train both flying ROV at our base in Kristiansund and training in troubleshooting and repairing at our ROV workshop. Our main goal is that every participant is to have a minimum of 50 hours operating a ROV during the duration of the course.

Required pre qualifications recommended by IMCA:

A nationally accepted vocational education, military or civilian, within electronics, hydraulics or mechanics, together with a minimum of three years relevant work experience within the last four years. A higher education within these disciplines is of course accepted but then together with a minimum of one year`s relevant work experience. The complete IMCA R002 can be found here:
